CU Faculty Inventor
Professor Jean Koster

CEO, Les Makepeace

TIGON EnerTec is a University of Colorado spin-out company that designs, builds and integrates hybrid propulsion systems.  Also supported by the Boulder Innovation Center and the Renewable and Sustainable Energy Initiative (RASEI), TIGON has developed a unique hybrid transmission for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV’s).  Not only does this technology have the potential to make UAV’s more efficient and effective, it also applies to manned aviation, as well as marine and land transportation applications.  Faculty inventor, Jean Koster, has won the University of Colorado Inventor of the Year Award and his paper "Hybrid Electric Integrated Optimized System (HELIOS) - Design of a Hybrid Propulsion System for Aircraft," given at the 49th AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting in Orlando, FL on January 5, was selected as "Best Paper" by the "Design Engineering Technical Committee." TIGON EnerTec may soon develop a “flying hybrid.” For more information, visit www.tigonenertec.com or contact Les Makepeace: les@tigonenertec.com.
